Shocking Discovery

Mephisto Mori/ January 10, 2015/ Video Games/ 0 comments

So I’m a bit inebriated, I’ve been playing a game on its hardest difficulty, and I’ve come to a discovery. The Last of Us (remastered) is the best game of the PS4 era so far… still. And it’s a PS3 game.  I think that says something about the developmental progress of current generations games. I give XBONE and Pssssfrrrrr a

Because… reasons, I have set up a new Twitch channel, twitch.tv/mr_mephisto Feel free to check it out and follow me at your leisure. It’s been a real work in progress getting this new channel up. Jackafur is a fixture of the Speedrunning community. He’s run a number of games from the notorious Doom to the quirky lesser known N64 platformer, Mischief Makers. His skill, colorful personality, and emotion make him a pleasure to watch. After a grueling year of grinding, he set the world records in two categories for Mischief Makers. Late September, 2014 he

What has the Internet done?!

Something awesome, that’s what. The non-profit Internet Archive added 2400 files to their Classic PC Games section yesterday. The addition brings the collection to over 6000 items. The bulk of the expansion was comprised of 1990s DOS games. Wolfenstein 3D, Classic SimCity, Commander Keen, and even Number Munchers all grace the Archive. Many games can be played directly from your browser

I look forward to AGDQ all year like some folks do their Birthday or Christmas. Short version of what it is? A bunch of speed runs of games new and old for charity (The Prevent Cancer Foundation). It’s a marathon, a great excuse to burn some vacation days and watch video games. You can donate some money, save some lives,

A Little Late to the Party: Wolfenstein the New Order

Mephisto Mori/ December 31, 2014/ Video Games/ 0 comments

Among my Video Game related presents, was this gem. I’ve been playing it on Uber so progress is slow (but rewarding). I’ve seen enough to form a preliminary opinion though: game’s good. I could nitpick over a few details (and I will in a full review) but when it gets right down to it. This is a Sci-Fi shooter the way

Post Xmas Thought

Mephisto Mori/ December 26, 2014/ Video Games/ 0 comments

Yesterday, like many others, I opened some presents. As I did so it occurred to me: video games have topped my list for Christmas gifts for nearly thirty years. I should be sad about that but I’m not. I’m easy to shop for. I’ll give you a list of 20 games at any given time for any occasion and never

A Bloodborne Dilemma

Anyone remember Nightmare Creatures? Bitchin’ game, wasn’t it? I have a personal Playstation Hall of Fame and Nightmare Creatures is in it. This Hall of Fame doesn’t mean “the best” games. It’s a list of personally influential games. About a dozen or two that absolutely absorbed me for the tenure of the original Playstation. They influenced my writing and inspired
