Game: Dead Space

Genre: Third-Person Shooter

Developer: Visceral Games

Publisher: EA

Platform: PS3, Xbox 360, PC

Score: You’re right, Visceral Games, I did want to play Event Horizon as a video game.

Isaac Clarke is an engineer that volunteers to be part of a team sent to investigate the sudden silence of a planet mining spaceship, the USG Ishimura. A video message Isaac views at the beginning gives insight as to why he signed up.  His main squeeze, Nicole Brennan, sent him a tearful message suggesting something terrible has happened on the ship and that she won’t be seeing him ever again.  Things happen, Event Horizon with zombies, Isaac destroys an alien artifact known as The Marker, and escapes – alone. Turns out he went kinda crazy during the ordeal. Can’t blame him; space zombies, dead girlfriend, you understand. Game was good. Not great, but not every shooter with horror themes can be Bioshock.

This game was reviewed on the PS3.
