Elder Scrolls, I really don’t know if I should trust you…

I have an odd relationship with Elder Scrolls.  It’s difficult to cut through the hype and distortion on any Elder Scrolls game, for good or ill.

I’m still undecided on Skyrim in other words.

I cling to the high ground that I should play any big titles that come my way.  As a reviewer it’s more about informing the masses and snagging some degree of quality control for the gamer.  This often means enduring crap, to tell you it’s crap.  (And sometimes finding gems that may have been overlooked or passed off as crap).

It’s true I stick to the mainstream titles… they are in the greatest need of quality control.  I suppose it doesn’t matter if the game is good or bad – just that people will have need of an informed opinion on whether they should pay full price for it.

…I am still a gamer, however, and my endurance of bad titles has a limit.

With Uncharted 3 and Batman: Arkham City, I may be able to endure some shit, knowing that there are some lights in the darkness.
