Mariachi Music… VG Style

I recently stumbled upon a mariachi band that covers video game music. The ensemble is led by DaveYard Shift. And it’s fantastic. Each video begins with a shot of tequila, in proper fashion, and then gets into the music. The videos are well produced and have a biopic feel to them. Oh right, and the music is awesome. But you don’t have to take my word for it…

We’ve all heard our share of bands covering video game music. These are a step above banjo covers of Castlevania though – a new entity. They infuse the nostalgia born of classic game soundtracks with a depth of musicians and instruments that grows into songs with their own imagery.

I recognize the tune from Ocarina of Time. But I also see Antonio Banderas showing up Desperado style with a guitar case of guns murdering Ganon.
