Post Xmas Thought

Yesterday, like many others, I opened some presents. As I did so it occurred to me: video games have topped my list for Christmas gifts for nearly thirty years. I should be sad about that but I’m not. I’m easy to shop for. I’ll give you a list of 20 games at any given time for any occasion and never be disappointed if I receive them.

On the flip side, the families I spend the holidays with are all hunters. Not rednecks or hicks so much, but Midwestern born and bred. Which means beer, brats, and cheese and deer killin’. (The former three I’m quite fond of myself). It’s difficult to explain to them where they’re more than happy with a simple pair of wool socks or Cabela’s gift card, I want video games. There’s a bit of a culture clash there which isn’t too hard to overcome when they realize I like the Packers.

But that is entirely a tangent and I apologize. I had a great holiday. I got some video games I really wanted and I planted the seed for another year. I implied that a second hand SNES cartridge for 5 dollars or new PS4 release for 60 cover the spectrum of cost and leave me equally as elated.

I hope everyone got the Console or Cartridge or Disc they asked Santa for this year.
