Spoilers Inc: Telltale Games Plays Walking Dead

Below this wall of text, I’m linking you all to a solid series of streams featuring the Walking Dead game developed by Telltale Games.  It does have spoilers.  In fact, it’s basically just the developers playing the game and spoiling it and providing commentary the entire time.  It’s a great watch.  Play the games first if you haven’t.  If you haven’t played the games yet, I’ve constructed this wall of text for you:

Allow me to harm my credibility.  The Walking Dead Zombie Bug hasn’t bitten me.  I’m not a mindless drone that flocks to anything featuring a zombie.  Quite the contrary, I’ve been over the zombie thing for a long time.  And have even posted previously on the subject: Linkage.

The Walking Dead by Telltale Games, on the other hand, is a different story.  It’s a damn good game.  It took the combined efforts of a Steam sale and my love of Sam and Max to disarm my hatred of zombies and let me purchase the games.  I do not regret that decision.

Telltale Games took their brilliant narrative laden Adventure game formula, one that made Sam and Max such gems, and applied it to something that prints money for anyone who touches it; The Walking Dead.  The result is an experience that will be unique to anyone who hasn’t played an Adventure game before.  Or a darn good game for Adventure gaming veterans.

I’m not going to say it’s the best zombie related video game.  But it’s the best zombie related video game.  And the best thing “The Walking Dead” template has been added to.  Better than the TV series and certainly better than the comics.  I’ll rant at length about how much I hate the Walking Dead and zombies some other time, though.  This is about a good video game.

Telltale Games does what it does best.  There’s no gimmicks that your other zombie games usually rely on.  Just an engaging game, telling a damn good story, and allowing you to live with the decisions you make.  The humor that saturates Sam and Max is replaced by drama.  Believable drama that is sincere and human.  You will be haunted by your decisions even after you put the controller down.

But enough about how much I like Sam and Max and the other game developed by the same team.  Here are the videos as promised:
