P.T. [Free PS4 Game, Spoiler Free]
Well I’m half a week slow on the uptake. Maybe it’s because I’ve been busy with The Last of Us, a book, and a son.
In my downtime this morning I was browsing the PS4 store and saw a free game called P.T.. I’ve seen a few free horror games floating around steam so I thought nothing of it. I was not prepared for what came next.
Several hours of tension all culminating to one big payoff. A huge payoff. The jackpot for old school and new horror buffs alike. The production value is excellent. The atmosphere and attention to detail is unparalleled.
Sounds. Voice overs. Discarded Candy wrappers and insects. Pictures on the walls. They’re all little perfect pieces that build to an amazing end. Well, a beginning really. A taste, a tease.
And then the puzzles. Subtle but not impossible or requiring you to be Fez levels of autistic. You get stumped are forced to wallow in the atmosphere, allowing the tension build just enough… stumble too long and you’re actually punished.
This lady still makes my skin crawl. Such great art direction in general. And whoever directed this game must be a seasoned, genius veteran. The future looks very, very dark. And I can’t wait.
