Another Gamer Dad Moment

While at the job that pays the bills, I noticed a video of my 7 month old son that his mother posted.  Described simply: my boy is standing!  Immediately, pride overwhelmed me.  Then I went into our toys and game section and purchased a Sonic, the Hedgehog plush.  The boy needs inspiration if he’s going to take the next step; a step.  Who could be a better motivator than a hedgehog with impeccable taste in shoes?

I’ve always measured time based on eras of gaming.  I don’t refer to grades or years.  It’s what game I was playing at the time.  Now I’m purchasing video game memorabilia to commemorate hallmarks in my child’s development.  Good at parenting.

And I had such a good rant about Skylanders too.  But look at the devil, doesn’t that make you just want to jog in place while you read this?  Or at least play Sonic after you’re done reading?

Editor’s Note:

I stand by my previous assertion over Skylanders.  Buying action figures, stuffed animals, and art of your favorite VG heroes is fine.  Making parents purchase what equates to a beanie baby each time the kid needs more content for his game?  That folks, is the worst form of DLC.

I am a moral expert on the subject of raising kids, mind you.  I hold my son to the standards of a blue 16-bit animal.
